  • 5 star ratingParadise We loved the resort. Not too big, but big enough to have a nice gym, a good dive centre and a great restaurant. Service was great and the island was beautiful. Two weeks was not enough, so I am pretty sure I will be back.

  • 5 star rating10 Year Anniversary What a great resort and fantastic holiday for our anniversary. We had been to Maldives previously for our honeymoon, so know what to expect, but Komandoo exceeded expectations. With an All Inclusive package you don't have to think about anything, the only extras we paid for were the massages at the spa (which were excellent by the way). The best part is the snorkelling, with wide variety of sealife there to see. It's a further swim to the reef than at Angsana Ihuru for example, but it's very rewarding. There are turtles everywhere, loads of wonderful reef fish, small sharks and in one day a huge Eagle Ray. The room we got was perfect which was a jacuzzi beach villa. It was called Marlin 8 and I would recommend either Marlin 8 or 9 as best rooms on the island.

Food was always superb with a good mix of options at the buffet. With the AI package you get a fridge full of wine replenished daily, including sparkling, red, white and rose.

All in all, really great value.

  • 5 star ratingFabulous holiday - again We have just returned from our 9th visit. The upgrades to the rooms that are taking place are welcome. More lights and plugs, black out curtains all are nice touches. The service was as always was, 10 out of 10. The work Owen (GM) and his team have put in since last summer and even Christmas is very clear, the Island is loved and it shows. The diving was very good and Steff and Marek always try to top your last dive- we love diving with them. The Spar had a few changes and again it was at another level. The evenings are quite and allow for conversations - no discos which suits us. If you want to party then this Island is not for you - if you want great service, good quality food and a complete relax then this is for you. Only down side is Owen is leaving at the end of August. This does concern us as he really has taken this resort to another level, don't let it slip. More

  • 5 star ratingHeaven Island This was our Honeymoon. What can I say? This is really worth the money if you want an intim island in the middle of the island with high quality of service and food with outstanding home reef. The main points are:1) Water villa in which we stayed is great, luxurious and very cousy with everything you need including good jacuzzi with a view over and ocean, great bed with protection linen from mosquitos (there were none of them cause of good job of staff getting rid of them with sprays)2) Really great home reef with sea turtles, little sharks, eagle rays, manta rays, great tuna flocks, sea stars, lots of different kind of fish of all sizes, shapes and colours all over the three reefs near the shore. Every time you swim you see sth new.3) The food was just outstanding! All kind of Indian, Asian, european, medditeranian food, fresh lamb, beef, tuna been grilled in front of you, desserts, fruit and drinks which are new every day. Lots of varieties!4) Very polite, helpful, friendly and kind personell, special thanks to Amar in restaurant and Ridaah (though others are not worse, we've just been in touch with these guys)5) Kind surprise with arrival as a honey moon6) You won't be bored cause plenty of sports, water, excursions, dances and other activities. So everything was really great! More

  • 5 star rating6 days in 2 villas on this island paradise My wife and I stayed at Komandoo between the 26th of August and 1st of September and loved every minute of it. Komandoo is a 30-40 minute seaplane ride from Male which gives you the chance of seeing some stunning scenery. If this is your first trip to the Maldives, everything you see online or on postcards is exactly what the islands look like, its hard to believe, but true nonetheless.

Komandoo is a adults-only resort, which means if you're looking for a bit of relaxation, far from the sounds of crying or screaming children, look no further. The resort has 2 restaurants, Falhu & Aqua, and 2 bars, Thundi and Kandu.

    The Villas:

We were initially booked into Beach Villa - Coral 3 which was just 10 meters from the waves so it makes jumping out of bed and into the water very convenient. Probably the most notable thing about the beach villa is it's outdoor bathroom, so if you're the sort of person who wants to get closer to nature, this is for you. However, if you aren't too fond of insects or lizards you should probably steer clear of the beach villa. For the most part the resort does a great job of keeping the outdoors, out, but you may encounter the odd lizard in your room but seeing as it's a tropical island, this is perfectly understandable.

After 3 nights in the Beach Villa we had the chance to move into a Water Villa and took it. It’s easy to see why the Water Villas are the most popular accommodation on the island. They’re located at the south end and have steps going down from your deck into the reef, giving you almost your private slice of ocean. The rooms are slightly larger and the indoor bathrooms come with a jacuzzi. Everything about the water villas scream luxury.

    The Restaurants:

Flahu Restaurant is the spot where you're going to have most of your meals if you're on the full-board package. The food is decent and every night features a different theme, Italian, Greek, Middle Eastern, etc. My favourite had to be Asian, the sashimi was fantastic.

On one of the nights, my wife and I tried out Aqua, the fine dining restaurant. Special mention goes out to Chef Sachin who did an amazing job with every dish. Additionally, his duck on Asian night was nothing short of amazing.

    The Spa:

Duniye Spa is located just around the corner from the reception. They have some extremely talented therapists who gave us the best massages of our lives. We visit spas on every holiday we take but the massages we received at Duniye were in a league of their own.

    The Activities:

The resort has a variety of excursions and classes you can sign up for such as big game fishing. In addition there’s snorkelling, diving, a futsal court, badminton, table tennis, and other things to keep yourself busy.

    The Marine Life:

Komandoo’s house reef is brilliant, during our time there we saw a huge amount of marine life including turtles, sting rays, porcupine fish, clown fish, and unicorn fish to name a few. Based on my experience, there was a lot more marine life near the water villas than at the beaches.

    The Staff:

The staff are probably the best thing about Komandoo, always greeting you with a smile, right from the maintenance crew to the front office. The GM, Mohamed Solah is always on hand and checking on guests. During my 6 nights there, I had 7 separate interactions with him which goes to show how much interest he takes in the comfort and well-being of his customers.

At Falhu restaurant, each guest is assigned a specific waiter, who serves you from when you arrive to when you check-out. Our waiter was Ibrahim who was amazing. Always cheerful, and full suggestions on where we could snorkel and see more marine life. Ibrahim made our meal times something to remember.

Saeed, our room boy at Eagle Ray 10 is the definition of a consummate professional. He’s fantastic at what he does and is great at making conversation.

Finally, Saddam, who oversaw our check-in. Saddam was very helpful especially during the last part of our stay. My wife fell ill and needed medicine. Saddam set up a consult with a doctor from a neighbouring resort and organised for medicine to be picked up and delivered to our room, all in the space of a few hours. We can’t thank Saddam enough for this exceptional service.

The only suggestion I can provide is for improved lighting on the footpath on the west side of the island, which can make walking back in the dark difficult.

Taking everything into consideration, our trip to Komandoo is probably the best beach holiday we’ve ever taken, and if we have the chance to return, we most definitely will. I can’t recommend this property highly enough.
