Komandoo Celebrities: Hassan Imad Umar

The team member whom we’re crowning this month’s Komandoo Celebrity is Imad, the resort’s Head Waiter. Many of you will know Imad, as he’s been an integral part of the team since 2011, and working in Lhaviyani already since 2003 when he joined our sister resort, Kuredu.

Imad can mostly be found in Falhu Restaurant, where he is tasked with ensuring that nothing is missing from your breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, and that your glasses are full. In fact, having been working at the resort for so long, Imad – and our other long-serving team – take service up a notch by actually knowing what our repeater guests’ favourite drinks are. Attentiveness pure and simple!

While dining at the resort’s main restaurant is commendable in and of itself (read the reviews here), Imad also recommends everyone to experience Komandoo’s beach barbecue dinners. Taking place weekly, these evenings epitomise the leisurely pace of days in the Maldives; freshly prepared dishes, cooked to your liking, toes in the soft sand, sparkling stars above you and the company of your loved one is just about everything you need for a memorable day in paradise. It doesn’t come as a surprise that Komandoo’s been voted the Maldives’ 4th, and Asia’s 14th most romantic resort!

Aside from making sure your food and drink cravings are fulfilled, Imad oftentimes goes the extra mile and takes guests (many have become friends rather than just guests!) snorkelling. During his spare time, Imad can be seen enjoying many of the waterports and recreation facilities available on the island, such as stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing, canoeing, football, volleyball and badminton.

And Imad’s top pick for evening entertainment? ‘Fazeel, the talented saxophonists who plays in Kandu Bar every Thursday, is not to be missed.’

A big thank you, Imad, for enhancing our guests’ experience at Komandoo for the past seven years; we hope that you remain a key member of the Komandoo Family for many more years!
