Call it cosiness, ‘hygge’ or ‘Gemütlichkeit’, Komandoo Maldives Resort takes the cake when it comes to the art of creating intimacy and simple pleasures, the feeling of calm, and making the ordinary feel extraordinary.
For the obvious reasons, you can’t practice cuddling by a fireplace in fuzzy socks on a cold winter’s night in the Maldives, but you can nevertheless expect to experience that heart-warming feeling, when nothing else matters, with your loved one – and with a little help of the resort’s cordial room attendants. We’re featuring one of them in this month’s installment of the Komandoo Celebrity series.
With great pleasure we put the spotlight on Saeed Ibrahim!
Saeed, who joined the Komandoo team in 2015, is a meticulous room attendant, known for his bed decorations and towel art creations – random acts of kindness that take the form of turtles, stingrays, mantas, swans, dinosaurs, lobsters, crocodiles, dresses and many more. Guests’ all-time favourite towel art: an elephant with sunglasses. If you see Saeed picking flowers around the resort, chances are they’re for you!
Saeed vividly remembers many couples who were clearly impressed with him going the extra mile: ‘One, a couple in their 60s celebrating their wedding anniversary at Komandoo, said that nowhere else had they been surprised like that and treated like royalty’. On a second occasion, Saeed surprised a guest on his birthday with a towel cake art and a ‘happy birthday’ song and dance – a pleasant and memorable day for all involved!
When Saeed isn’t busy tidying up your villa, making it spotless and comfortable for your hours of relaxation there, his shy personality gives way to his entertainer traits – Saeed showcases his singing and dancing talents in the weekly Maldivian Show. In addition, he’s also a member of the resort’s fire brigade and an excellent football and volleyball player.
Imagine having a ‘sweet dreams’ card put onto your bed every evening, along with an almond biscuit and a lovely scent coming from the nicely dimmed light on the drawer… Yep, sounds like Komandoo’s secret (room) service to us!
