Message from the General Manager – September 2023
Dear Guests,
Greetings from sunny Komandoo! After two months of closure on Komandoo to complete essential maintenance and renovation work, it has been my great pleasure to open our resort again. Komandoo’s Champions and I are very excited to be welcoming back our guests – the island is simply not the same without the happy smiles and chatter of holidays being enjoyed to the full.
The small, sandy coral islands of the Maldives naturally change their shape through the seasons and over the years due to the strong ocean current. These same ocean currents that we’re thankful for when it comes to the abundance of marine life we all enjoy seeing whilst diving and snorkelling, pose no issue with uninhabited islands but at resorts and inhabited islands, large quantities of sand being washed away and moved to another spot makes the islands habitation unsustainable so defence and replenishment is a continual task. During our closure, we have replenished the beaches as well as island’s vegetation, and to further protect our shores and sustain the beaches, we have installed a 350-metre rock wall stretching from the infinity pool to Aqua Restaurant.
Those of you choosing to stay in an Ocean Jacuzzi Water Villa during your next stay will enjoy their new contemporary look, including the addition of a catamaran net to the terrace, creating even more space for relaxation as close to the ocean as possible. Please ensure you tag us in your holiday snaps of you using the nets – we’d love to see them being enjoyed!
Foodies amongst you will be excited to hear we have new menus for Aqua A la Carte, Bar Bites and In-Villa dining as well as a new Experience Menu – we hope you’ll find the dishes as delicious as our culinary team did when creating them.
As we move into September, we have Clean Up the World Day activities to look forward to in collaboration with the team from Prodivers. Rubbish drifting in on ocean currents is continually cleaned from the islands, it’s mostly plastic-based and shows the importance of switching to more environmentally friendly alternatives as we have at our resort. Here at Komandoo, we are very pleased to be able to join this global event in caring for our environment.
With the festive season fast approaching you may be thinking about escaping to experience a Christmas holiday in the tropics where you can leave the chaos behind and simply enjoy the moments we have curated, if so, don’t leave it too long to book, there is still some availability but it’s going quickly. High season is always a popular time in the Maldives so if you can’t find availability for your preferred dates, check the offers and enjoy a discounted stay another time – whenever you visit, a wonderful time is guaranteed.
Sun,Sea & Sand regards,
Ali Navaz
