World Oceans Day

If you love the ocean as much as we do at Komandoo Maldives you’ll want to do all you can to help protect it and World Oceans Day, marked on 8th of June each year, endeavours to highlight the plight of the underwater world and rally support for its protection. The theme for the 2022 event is ‘Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean’ and seeks to bring the global community together, not just for a day, but long-term in a bid to restore the health and vibrancy of the oceans.

At Komandoo, we are in the fortunate position of being surrounded by an abundance of incredible reefs and marine life. Our divers and snorkellers enjoy visiting dozens of stunning sites including the two Marine Protected Areas in the Lhaviyani Atoll: Kuredu Express where thrilling dives with sharks will never be forgotten and Fushivaru Thila, a renowned manta ray cleaning station. The Maldives has granted protected status to 42 areas of ocean and, as well as these Marine Protected Areas, a number of individual species are also protected, including dolphins, napoleon wrasses, coral, turtles and sharks – all of which enjoy the safe haven that the Maldives offers and can be seen regularly by our guests.

The ocean is vital for the health of our planet, on your next holiday join us for a marine adventure and discover just how amazing it is! Choose from scuba diving, snorkelling and a variety of water sports – all bookable, along with many other incredible experiences on the Komandoo App before you even arrive at the resort!
